Kick-ass.

So I'm working on some new audio, and I'm like, "shit, this track rocks!" So I'm all pleased with myself, right? I decide to take a break, I come on NewGrounds, see you have a new track, decide to check it out... I compare this one to my work-in-progress, and I'm like, "...fuck." XD This track kicks major ass. I honestly can't find anything wrong with it. It's complex, it's groovy, it's chill, it's friggin' awesome. Makes mine look like shit! Ah well, I guess I've still got some work to do. Keep up the good work! 10/10, 5/5, dl.

dj-padman1 responds:

hehe..thanks man. I know the feeling, it happens to me every day! The thing is, when you work on a track for hours and hours, you kind of get 'over' it, so that when you listen to some other persons track, its all fresh and clean and delicious. Its all in the mind!
Glad you liked it, I'll drop by your page soon.

freakin' awesome.

You almost had me convinced those were live-recorded drums... almost... I'm quite curious as to how you did it...
At any rate, I'd be a fool not to give this one a 10 on absolutely everything. This track just keeps evolving and evolving... and then, when you think it's done, it turns around and evolves some more! Until, somewhere along the line, I discover I'm listening to some kick-ass reggae, and I'm thinking "this is absolutely ridiculous!" and I'm loving every second. Well done, sir; you've outdone yourself. 10/10, 5/5, & dl.

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

hey ya,
the drums are from samples of my kit, thats why it sounds real-ish, worked out a beat on them then sequenced it with it's sample set. Only thing that bothers me with em is the ;ack of variation, they do pretty much the same thing for the last half of the track.
thanks for the review

Wicked.

From the second that second metal-sounding snare comes in, this track is pure gold. The rhythms are fantastic; very professional-sounding. If I would change anything, I'd bring that high-pitched triangle-like hi-hat-thingy slightly down in the mix, because it seems to stand out a little to much... but then again, that may just be my headphones. After the initial "holy shit, this track is awesome," things develop nicely, and then it just kinda grooves for a while... which is fine, and maybe even awesome, because it contrasts the change of pace later on, where things start getting sliced up. Also, I liked how, by the end, the whole thing intensified to the point where everything became a big, pulsing wall of sound. That's the way you do it. (You play the guitar on the MTV) [sorry... Dire Straits reference... couldn't help it] But yeah: 5/5, 10/10, dl. Keep up the good work.

dj-padman1 responds:

Thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback. Listening back to it, I 100% agree with you about the synthetic hi hat thingie. The thing is, I set the volume for it when I was listening to the last section, so when everything else is absent, it sticks out a bit! I will go ahead and change that.
Well, its a relief to learn that my wall of sound attempt didn't destroy the track, I'm happy about that!
lol..well, a sampled guitar ;)

very Danny Elfman

Sounds like something straight out of Beetle Juice or Nightmare Before Christmas... Excellent work. Love the strings.

sorohanro responds:

well, gee, thanx.i'm a very big fan of Danny Elfman.(alsoElliotGoldenthall, JoelMcNeely,ThomasNewman...etc)
Thanx again, that was one of the nicest compliments.

Wow

This is beautiful...

sorohanro responds:

thanx ! glad you liked it .i'll check your stuff later

This is good... very good.

I'll be watching you, Mr. Gonzo...

MrGonzo responds:

watch all you like, i'll be in the skies, keep your eyes trained to the stars

Wow

This is really good. Especially when it kicks it up a notch halfway through or so. That's when the track really starts going places. Wish I knew how to glitch like that... Excellent work.

dj-padman1 responds:

thanks, glad you enjoyed this little track. Just soak your snares in distortion and degrade them to 4 bit and you're practicaly there!

good stuff

Nice job on the beat, good job on the melodies, and great job on the production. Overall, it sounds a bit generic, though. Then again, that may be a matter of taste. Either way, 5/5.

Stealth-Emergence responds:

Whoa thanks AP I missed this, I hope I haven't kept you waiting for a reply too long.

Yeh it does sound generic, I don't do techno that much, as you can see, but I'm always trying my hand at different things so I'll remember to try and make them less generic in future (should I choose to do another techno piece)

Thanks man

Peace Out

lots of potential

I love the melodies/harmonies on this one; they go together really well. It lets me know that the dissonance on your most recent one wasn't unintentional; you know what you're doing. However, there isn't really much else to this song. Add in some ambient chords in the background, some more complex percussion, a more prominent bassline, some more interesting synths, and maybe some cross delay and effects to fill things out, and you've got yourself a hit.

Karco responds:

Yeah, it was more of a chase-scene loop thingy I was doing for a change of pace... and I have no idea what the heck cross delay means. XD

nice.

It's ambient, it's dissonant, and... well, it's a bit choppy. but overall, I like it. It would work well in a dream sequence, or more specifically, a nightmare sequence. Or maybe an other-worldly battle. Very moody. Good work.

Karco responds:

Thanks for reviewing. Glad you like it. =) Yeah, those were weird MP3s I was working with.

Oh Yoshimi, they don't believe me, but you won't let those robots eat me...
