Thank you for my first review ever. But that review it kind of short isn't it?
Mercenary-Beast
very good stuff
I love that plucky-sounding-synth... and the melodies/harmonies are quite aphex-ish at times. which is not to mention the insane ammounts of variation in those kick-ass beats... You can tell that this one took a lot of effort. great work!
I worked about 1 and half weeks straight on this one. I like how it turned out
thanks for the review :)
this is really freakin' cool
as said, could've been made better with a melody or something... still kick-ass.
Thanks a ton.
This will most likely be chopped up and re-used for something else - It does need something. I appreciate hearing from you!
good stuff
I must admit, I looked at your profile, saw that you were 14, and expected this to be really crappy. But it's not crappy. It's not crappy at all. It's actually quite good, if a bit short and under-developed. Lots of excellent ideas in here, and the guitars are incorporated quite nicely. Great work.
thanks! And im actually 11 xD
good stuff
This has a really fresh feel to it. There isn't much in terms of melody, but the combination of drums and ambience more than makes up for it. I'd even go as far as to say the distortion works well. That beat is just perfect. 5/5. The only thing I could suggest is maybe taking it somewhere different, changing things up a bit; it didn't really feel like a full song to me. Then again, maybe that's what you were aiming for.
thanks. yeah i found it very difficult to complete this one. But its far from anything finished, i just got my new FL so i'll be making better stuff soon, hopefully.
Epic.
This is very nice... the way you built the intensity up to its release was fantastic. This truly sounds like something out of a movie... and I'm usually very picky about stuff like that. The tension is just... tense. And those underlying middle-eastern instruments were genius; it added a whole nother level to the experience. I'm getting a very 300-ish vibe from this... but then it's ruined by the Italian guitar picking / accordion stuff XD Which is not to say that it's bad; it just made me realize I wasn't listening to the 300 soundtrack. Excellent work. 5/5 easy, even in its "demo" state.
Heh, yeah, when I first started making music I was always looking for new sounds to put into the piece. Ethnic instruments nobody has heard off, to give them a taste few will have experienced in any other way.
Recently I noticed i've been sticking around the same instruments way too much, so I decided to try putting some new stuff in again :D.
This one in particular has the Droning Sitar, the Erhu Violin, and as you meantioned, the plucking was the Tremolo Satari (I think thats the name). I hope to make the final version much more diverse, hopefully it will not bleed from it's core if I do.
Thank you for teh review attempted! I'm glad you liked the piece ^^.
This is wonderful.
Seriously, top-notch work on this one. The ambience in the beginning was great; I would've considered this an awesome track if it stayed just like that throughout the whole thing... but no, you had to out-do yourself and throw in some kick-ass beats (the panning near the end is especially nice)
That chimey-vibey-synth is fantastic as well... in fact, all the sounds go together flawlessly. If this is any indication of how your ep is turning out, you can definitely put me down for a copy. Overall this sounds very professional. A Perfect 10. Brilliant work.
Haha thanks man.
Most of the EP is similar in some way to this song. (An edited version of this is going on it too)
I love that chimey synth too. It really is one of the better synths I've ever made.
The EP version, I mastered better, and took off that distorted drums near the end.
I may have to hit you back, eventually :)
very nice
I've only heard the first four measures or so, and I can already say that this is freakin' good. Waiting for it to break out into beat-o-rific awesomeness...
...
Aah, There it is. Not exactly what I expected, but it works. And vocals too? Very nice. This is really cool. I have no clue what to expect next... ah, there's that groovy beat I was looking for earlier. Awesome. And then it breaks back out into all sorts of wicked distortion and such... Overall, the only thing against this track is the sound quality, mainly at the distorted sections... but then, this *is* in the "indie" genre, so I can let it slide. Great ending too. 5/5.
thanks for the review. the low sound quality is due to the low mp3 quality. this song is 5:10 so i had to compress it a lot. I assure you that a higher quality version sounds much cleaner.
wickedly mellow...
At first, the switching between major-7 chords and minor chords seemed a bit un-natural (sorry if I'm not absolutely correct in terminology; it's been a while since music theory classes...), but after a few repetitions I got used to it. The reverb, matched with the strong low-end sound, really does wonders for the mood of this track. Overall, it really is quite beautiful. Excellent composition, excellent performance; makes me want to take my acoustic out and practice a bit more often. 5/5.
Cheers ap, I've been picking it up since I saw that Andy McKee fellow on YouTube, hehe. Thanks a lot!
you know, that other guy was right...
This is indeed, for some reason, oddly reminiscent of something from Bomberman 64. Such a good game... I hope it comes out for the VC... but I digress. I like this track. Nothing spectacular, but I can't find anything wrong with it, and it grooves along pretty nicely for its duration. Subtle effects here and there add a lot to the overall sound. Would work well as background music... which may be why it's under the videogame genre. 9/10, 5/5
